Sohna Hills
Sohna Hills Sohna Hills is situated at a distance of 56 km from Delhi. The name "Sohna" literally means gold. The place got this name from the gold dust that was once collected from the sands of streams flowing around it. There is also a pretty health-cum-holiday resort in Sohna Hills, near Delhi. Standing atop the Aravalli hills, the resort offers a breathtaking view of the landscape below. On the adjacent hill, is a ruined fortress, once a stronghold of local chieftains. Delhi Sohna Hills is the perfect place to get some break from the routine stressful life of the cities.
Peace and serenity abound in this place. The morning is filled with the sound of the calling peacocks. Also filling the atmosphere is the chiming of the temple bells in the Sohna town. One of the major attractions of Sohna are its sulphur springs, said to have medicinal properties. The sulphur springs have temperature in the range of 46.10 deg C to 51.70 deg C. Other facilities available at Sohna are the spa complex with sauna, sulphur and steam bath facilities for the tourists. There is also a small swimming pool, filled with water emitted from a wall mural.
Damdama Lake
Damdama Lake is situated at a distance of approximately 56 km to the south east of Delhi. A three hours drive, Dum Duma Lake, near Delhi, is a nice place for having fun and adventure. Located near the Aravalli Hills, this lake is your best bet for rock climbing. Also, Delhi Dumdama Lake is the perfect place to go for boating. Other activities that can be undertaken at this lake include canoeing, kayaking and angling. A popular picnic spot, it also boasts of an island inside it that houses Water Resort. The resort has 15 independent cottages that have been designed keeping in mind the ethnic style of the Indian villages.

One of the major attractions of the resort consists of the tree houses from where one can enjoy the beautiful environs of the lake, along with its exotic bird life. Badkhal Lake

A 30-minutes drive, Badkal Lake, near Delhi, is very famous for its water sports like boating, canoeing, kayaking, etc. There is also a luxury yacht for those with an adventurous nature. Badhkal Lake is noted for its tranquility, along with the small cottages that have been built at an elevated ground.
Badkhal Lake is also a bird watchers paradise. Numerous species of local birds as well as migratory birds can be seen around the lake. The lake, which is breathtaking in its beauty, is also a popular picnic spot. Badkal Lake, near Delhi, is surrounded by magnificently landscaped gardens, which abound in blossoming trees. There are numerous facilities offered near the lake. One of them is a deluxe bath complex complete with swimming pool and sauna facilities. Other facilities include Restaurant, Bar, Conference hall, Filling station, kiosks with snacks, etc.
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
Sultanpur Bird Sanctury Sultanpur National Park lies approximately 46 km to the southwest of Delhi. The national park is famous for its greenery, rich variety of bird species and a splendid lake. The area around Sultanpur Lake, near Delhi, was declared a water-bird reserve in the year 1972. Beautiful lawns, trees, shrubs and bougainvilleas dot the landscape of the park. There is also a small museum and library in the reserve that will familiarize you with the various birds and other creatures that you will come across while in it.
One of the essential items to take with you to the Delhi Sultan Pur Bird Sanctuary is a pair of binoculars. It is necessary in order to watch the wildlife from a safe distance, without disturbing them. Migratory geese and Siberian cranes spend the winter in Sultanpur. Apart from that, one can find other migratory birds here, along with resident birds and wild animals. The best time to visit Sultanpur National Park, especially for watching the migratory birds, is during the months of December and January.

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary serves as the natural habitat of a large number of resident as well as migratory birds. Some of the resident birds found here are Common Hoopoe, Purple Sunbird, Little Cormorant, Eurasian Thick-knee, Indian Roller, White-throated Kingfisher, Spot billed Duck, White Ibis, India Crested Lark, Rose ringed Parakeet, Eurasian collared Dove, Red collared Dove, Laughing Dove, Greater Coucal, etc.
The popular migratory birds spotted here winter include Siberian Cranes, Greater Flamingo, Ruff, Black-winged Stilt, Common Greenshank, Northern Pintail, Yellow & White Wagtail, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Black-tailed Godwit, Spotted Redshank, Starling, Long-billed Pipit, etc. In summer, one can find about 11 species of migratory birds, like Asian Koel, Black-crowned Night Heron, Eurasian Golden Oriole, Comb Duck, Blue-cheeked & Blue-tailed Bee-Eater, etc.

Apart from the birds, Sultanpur National Park also boasts of a wide variety of wild animals. One can easily spot antelopes like Neelgai (Blue Bull) and Black Buck roaming around the park. Then, there are a number of other animals, like Indian Porcupine, Wild Cat, Hedgehog, Sambar, Caracal, Rattle/Honey Badger, Wild Dog, Four Horned Antelope, Striped Hyena, Hog Deer, Leopard, Wild Pig, Mongoose, etc.
Surajkund
Surajkund Surajkund is situated approximately 20 km from the heart of Delhi, between the villages of Baharpur and Lakkarpur. Located in the state of Haryana, the village gets its name from a fabulous water tank housed inside it. It is said that Suraj Pal, a Rajput King, got the tank constructed in the 11th century. Surajkund, near Delhi, is the perfect place to spend a day enjoying the rustic splendor of the city. It serves as the ideal break from the hectic and stressful life of the cities. The first thing that attracts you on entering Delhi Suraj Kund is the tank that merges beautifully with the rocky terrain.

The population of Surajkund Village is quite less, mainly consisting of cattle raisers or those working in stone quarries nearby. Away from the hustle bustle of the city, this village seems to be enveloped in a time wrap of its own. The fragrance of the food being cooked on earthen chulhas (cooking range), lit with cow dung, fills your nostrils. The forest nearby supports a rich flora and fauna. One of the main attractions of SurajKund, near Delhi, is the annual Surajkund Crafts Mela (fair). The fair takes place every year between the 1st and the 15th of February in the village complex.

Surajkund During these fifteen days, craftsmen from all over India come to Suraj Kund to take part in the Mela. Infact, the fair has become one of the most important cultural fairs of Delhi. The venue of the Surajkund Mela is around the boundary of the water tank. All types of artisans, be it potters, embroiderers, weavers, wood carvers, metal workers, stone smiths or painters, participate in the Mela. For entertainment purposes, there are performances by folk dancers, musicians, acrobats and magicians
